Working on your feet can be a real pain…especially when you’re wearing the wrong footwear. Sure, you could go out to an orthopedic store if you wanted to blow an entire paycheck. And let’s face it, the mall’s not much better. You’ll likely have a slew of teens trying to push the models that will give them the best commission. But are those really the best options for your work needs? Probably not. You could order online, but deciding upon the best styles can be challenging and time consuming…until now. Below are ‘MORE’ than 5 of the best women’s shoes for standing on their feet all day.
Most Comfortable Women’s Work Shoes

1. Clarks May Marigold
The Clarks Women’s May Marigold Slip-On Loafer is a very smart example of a slip-on work shoe that will appeal to many women that want a bit of style and height to their shoe. There is just enough detailing on the synthetic upper to catch the eye, but not so much that they aren’t suitable for many different work environments.
The addition of the 2 inch heel adds some shape and lift, taking it away from some of the blander flat work shoes. The main selling point of this ladies professional shoe is the use of comfort features on the inside.
Clarks are known for making some of the most comfortable shoes for standing all day at work and this option continues that trend. It has a cushion soft feel thanks to the fabric lining and an impressive ortholite footbed. This footbed means that wearers can continue walking and standing all day on their feet with few complains about pain or fatigue. Women agree that these shoes are a great option for long-term comfort and some are surprised they can achieve this with that larger heel. There are also comments about the lack of breaking-in time, which means they are beneficial straight out of the box.
2. Clarks Channing Ann
In many ways, the Clarks Women’s Channing Ann Slip-On Loafer is a pretty standard looking pair of work shoes for general use around the office. The heel may be a touch higher than that of some other loafers, at 1.75 inches, but the style and shape is pretty familiar with the strong leather upper, slip on design and platform.
There are, however, some little details in the design that mean that these women’s work shoes are a little more attractive, such as the patternation on the leather and the elastic loop and button on the side.
There is the choice of standard or “mini lizard” print here. This loop closure on the side does little in the way of creating a better fit on these shoes, but it does stretch with the small elastic goring panel. This does extend the range of the shoe and add to the comfort for feel that may get tired over long hours. This comfortable feel is enhanced via the quality cushioning in the Ortholite footbed, the shock-absorbing sole and the fabric linings. There is nothing revolutionary for helping those that are standing all day, but it covers the basics well.
3. Dansko Franny
Designed as an everyday loafer with subtle masculine undertones, Dansko Women’s Franny Flat allows you to put your foot in style! This sensible yet pretty shoe combines intelligent detailing with a tough-as-nails construction to reward you with years of satisfactory usage before you can even think of a replacement.
Its imported leather body doesn’t require intermittent polish or too much in terms of upkeep to retain its original sheen; just an occasional wipe with a damp cloth is enough to do the trick. The rubber outsole is designed to last long and is practically resilient to a good degree of abrasions, while the integrated insole comes with a shank and tuckboard to offer premium support and stability when you need them the most.
Additionally, there is an adjustable strap fitted on the front part with elastic lacing to give you enough options of customization according to your comfort needs. The molded and refurbished footbed lets you rest your feet in the lap of comfort even when you are standing for the greater part of the day. A heel height of approximately 1-inch makes it a great choice for people desperate to make a statement in stringent work environments.
4. Alegria Paloma
A favorite among nurses, Paloma Flat is a curious offering because it is very much a shoe of two halves , on the top there is the feminine, open flat with the waxy leather upper and a strong strap with a button detail and on the bottom there is the think platform.
This sole is rubber, thick and highly cushioned to ensure that women get more comfortable than they might otherwise enjoy from thinner, delicate models.
The comfort offered for women standing on their feet for long periods at work means that many consumers have becomes pretty brand loyal, only buying other Alegria flats. They require little breaking in and offer on-going comfort and support but there are the odd warning of squeaks in the soles.
5. New Balance WID626V2
With a classic sporty look and a no-nonsense exterior, New Balance WID626V2 starts off as your favorite workwear and ends up becoming your go-to shoe for running errands downtown, or even seeing the local rugby match.
The fine leather finish complements the stark black color scheme, giving it a nice formal appeal that is refreshingly different from all the garish walking shoes out there.
Although designed to offer an athletic fit, New Balance WID626V2 may not be the best option for people with overpronation. However, the insoles are detachable, so you can easily swap them out to insert orthotics and attain a more comfortable fit. On the brighter side, this work shoe does offer a decent bit of arch support for people who need to be standing all day at work, and the slip-resistant sole makes sure all you clumsy people out there don’t end up falling on wet or oily surfaces.
Keep in mind that these shoes generally run tighter than usual, so you may benefit from ordering a size or half-a-size bigger than you normally do. Some users have reported a characteristic ‘squeak’ noise with each step, but that only depends on the type of flooring you walk on. Many a time, textured cement is a big culprit of irritating noises heard from brand new footwear. Overall, if you are looking for a stable and comfortable walking shoe that will last longer and look good in the process, look no further.
6. Klogs Naples
On the inside, the Klogs USA Women’s Naples clog is a standard, comfortable work shoe that can help women who are standing on their feet all day via a thick cushioned sole and padded upper; on the outside it is more extreme.
Klogs have made this business professional shoe more appealing to a wider range of women by putting different materials, techniques and patterns on the uppers.
It starts with the most simple, inconspicuous black leather with a few different oiling and tooling effects and moves into the extreme red suede, camo colors and animal skins. Not all buyers agree with the sales claim that they are “like walking barefoot” but some do say that they require no breaking in and others appreciate the chance to use their own orthotic inserts.
7. Dansko Women’s Patti Leather Flat
Despite all of this, this simple slip-on clog is actually very well suited to workers that find themselves standing all day at work. That closed back is padded to provide ongoing comfort around the ankle, the shoe is flat with a minimal heel and there is an impressive insole. This insole uses triple density foam and has a supportive arch. While this insert may be more than enough for the needs of most users, there is also the opportunity to add personal orthotic devices to improve the support further. I need comfortable shoes that fit around my toes. I
Jan, what about the paw shoes that fit like a glove? But for your feet?
You need PERFECT feet to wear those all day. They do not conform to your feet, they make your feet conform to them. Not something you want for all-day work wear. I used to wear those during workouts.
Did you find one? That is my problem right now, by the time I get off work my toes are sore. I’ve been trying all kind of shoes and I wore about four of it for at least four hours then I have to take it off because it is hurting my toes.
Thanks
Eva
My feet get splashed with water a lot during a shift, are the Sketchers/Nurse Mate clogs water resistant?
Need a comfortable shoe to help my back and leg pain on my feet all day.
I have heel pain so badly somedays it kills me but I’m on my feet 14 hours a day in the hospital. I need a good shoe. Please help.
I always struggle to find my best pair of work shoes. But I guess when you stand in your feet for 12 hours a day, 5 days a week they all become uncomfortable after a while. The Skechers did a good job for me, I am surprised by their waterproof nature considering the material they’re made of.
I work in shoes. Try Brooks/Asics/Hokas when standing for long periods of time. They are more expensive but worth the price! Skechers are comfortable for short periods but not long term. When standing 12 hrs, you probably need to change shoes around hr 6. Do not wear the same shoes all day everyday and replace them when the shoe begins to wear on the bottom. Just as you replace tires on a car! Go to a shoe store where they can watch you walk and are actually trained to help you!
Any idea which shoe stores those are?
