I’m one of those women who are really hard on shoes. I have to replace my cross trainers at least twice a year. And I have a closet full of cheap dress shoes I’ve worn a few times, but most of them look like they’ve been run over by a tractor.
A friend told me I wouldn’t have this problem if I stopped buying cheap footwear and invested in the good stuff. Well, easy for her to say since she’s well off. But she just laughed and said a good pair of designer boots could pay for themselves within a few years and last for many beyond that. It was hard to argue when I found the Rhumba’s on sale a couple months ago.
A few weeks later, my boots arrived. This occurred right about the time Kate Middleton was last photographed wearing hers. When I checked them out again, the sale was lifted. So it really was excellent timing. With that said, let me just inform they’re worth it even at full price.
I got the taupe suede Rhumba’s and I’ve already worn them half a dozen times. They’re great with skinny jeans, leggings, or dresses. They’re boots for skinny calves, but they stretch. So there’s some give there. The half inner zipper is nice. It doesn’t catch on tights and it stays put. I didn’t have any problems with ankle gaping, but I don’t have tiny ankles, so that probably helps. Personally, I love these and I’m hoping to be able to afford them in black soon, because one pair isn’t enough.
