There is also the bonus of the stretch panels on the uppers.
The “Cloudsteppers” name is what makes this shoe so immediately appealing to anyone looking for comfortable shoes for standing all day. It refers to the strong cushioning and light weight. This “cushion soft” shoe is designed for long term use with the addition of the ortholite footbed. This footbed is also removable, which means that users should be able to add their own orthotic devices if needed. This is ideal for those that find the shoe to be a little lacking in arch support. There is also a breathable outsole which means that wearers’ feet shouldn’t get too hot and sweaty on a long day standing around at work. Buyers have even said that they were able to wear these shoes straight out of the box. This means no uncomfortable breaking-in period during that first week at work.

For those who want to look effortlessly chic on busy days, Dansko Women’s Mary Jane is the answer. Built to provide the ultimate freedom of movement and a luxurious, pampered feeling all day, these shoes are basically business shoes that are just as comfy and plush as running sneakers or walking shoes. The sleek and sturdy design is heavily appealing to those who wish to flaunt their tomboy personality in a particular gathering.
The adjustable hook strap guarantees a firm fit, while the slip-proof outsole is just what clumsy people need to hold their ground on wet or oily surfaces. The rubber sole is of the finest quality and doesn’t wear down even with repeated usage. And there is lots of room for people with swollen feet to feel comfortable in. The heel is just about an inch, so it’s enough to increase your height without making you look like you’re trying too hard.
Another very desirable aspect about this shoe is that it features additional grip on the underside. In other words, this means you have more support on the sole and are therefore less prone to getting fatigued or blisters from standing or walking too much. All in all, the Dansko Women’s Mary Jane is a light and durable option with an athletic fit and support that are both in line with workplace-appropriate needs.
18. Dansko Women’s Fynn Flat
The Dansko Fynn Flat is a cute, traditional looking work shoe with a strong leather upper and two thin buckled straps over the top. These adjustable straps allow for a more secure fit for long term wear. The shoe doesn’t look that flat at first, but looks are deceptive as it has a 0.25 inch platform alongside that 1.25 inch heel.
This straightforward shoe doesn’t have much in the way of features. There are no fun details to catch the eye and no odd extras inside for greater support or comfort
What this means that is that this is essentially a middle of the road shoe that will suit a lot of wearer. It has enough comfort features without going over the top and being too specialist and is plain enough that it will suit most women and their work place dress codes.
The idea of “uncommon comfort all day long” may be a stretch, but the use of the cushioned foot bed and the leather lining mean that wearers should appreciate these shoes. There is no reason why the average women can’t get these comfortable work shoes for standing all day on their feet.
19. Skechers Sure Track
These aren’t fancy shoes. You won’t find the bells and whistles with these as you might with other work shoes. But if you’re willing to bypass couture for comfort, this is an excellent choice.
The upper is a thin, full-grain leather that easily cups the foot. The rubber sole is slip-resistant, and the shoe is true to size.
It’s definitely not a style that will get whistles, but you’ll love it just the same for saving your foot and joint health and the ideal choice for women who need comfortable and skid free shoes for standing all day on your feet type of jobs.

Keen men's work shoes tend to be favorites for heavy duty workers and this model continues the trend with chefs for kitchen work and for male nurses in the medical field who need to be standing a lot on the job. The slip on shoe has a leather upper, memory foam footbed, and a very sturdy rubber sole. It passes the ASTM non-slip testing standards due to its unique and rugged treading.
Because it grips surfaces so well, the tread tends to load up with trapped gunk. So regular cleaning may be beneficial to keep them in top working order. Even with the extra wide toe box, however, these can rub some peoples toes to discomfort levels. It’s a good idea to try these on in-store before buying online to ensure the proper fit. Of course, if that’s not an option, you can rest assured knowing fast returns are never a problem with Amazon.
11. Merrell Men’s Encore Gust
The foot frame is compression molded so it stays on your feet as you move. For the price point, it’s one of the most comfortable options for men who have to stand or move a lot at work. Ideal choice for male nurses, chefs and waiters.
12. Dunham Men’s Windsor Waterproof Oxford Shoes
Yet, it’s comfortable enough for daily use at a physically taxing job, and beyond. Made of full grain leather, this lace up work shoe has an injection-mold foam midsole and thick rubber sole. It’s a little pricier than cheaper models, but it pays for itself over and over again by lasting for years. Not a bad choice if your job involves standing all day at work.
13. Skechers for Work Men’s Felton Work Shoe
This lace-up shoe is made up of a man-made upper with a fabric lining, and a memory foam cushioned comfort insole to give you the relaxation you need.It has enhanced features to protect you from electrical hazards.
The slip-resistant rubber outsole ensures that you do not have to worry about unnecessary slips in the course of your work. Oh, did I mention that the pair is feather light? Of course it is. You don’t need to stand and work in a heavy pair of shoes that give you an impression that you are wearing gumboots!
The price tag for this shoe is very fair. The only major setback with this pair is that it is made of cheap materials which tend to be delicate. However, nothing is permanent. You can give this comfortable pair a try. I’m sure you’ll agree it is worth your cash.
Best Work Sneakers for Men
Then there are the different sneakers for work for men. It isn’t hard to imagine that there would be more options for men than women. There are lots of work environments where a more casual approach may be permitted. The right sneaker will allow men to work full time in jobs that require walking and standing – all without the risk of too much foot pain or fatigue. These sneakers should provide many of the same comfort features as those for the women. This means a great insole and other support for the foot, plenty of padding and other elements for stability.
1. Brooks Glycerin
For our first shoe, we head back to Brooks and their Glycerin model for men. This shoe actually has a lot in common with the women’s Brooks work shoes above. There are similarities in the look and use of materials, with a similar sole and branding on the upper. There is also a similar approach to the designs. In fact, these are arguably more understated, with more options suitable for the workplace. The black/ebony is the safest bet for warehouse work where a lot of standing and heavy carrying is involved.
There is no doubt about the comfort and support offered by these shoes for those that need a reliable footbed for long term use. The brand pride themselves on the responsiveness of the shoe, thanks to the flexibility of the sole and support system that will absorb impact. There is a DNA LOFT transition zone on the sole to help with long-term use. There is also a 3D Fit Print mesh upper, level 3 cushioning and padding around the ankle. This has great potential as both a work sneaker and a running shoe.
2. New Balance Fresh Foam 1080
The name “Fresh Foam” suggests that this shoe should have more than enough good cushioning to help users find comfort across the working day. In fact, the brand claims to offer “high energizing” cushioning with the additional benefits of the removable foam insole. This, plus the ortholite footbed, means that there should be more than enough support for people with foot conditions. Further comfort comes from the plush tongue and collar, the breathable mesh and the soft lining.
There is clearly a lot of attention to detail in the construction of the shoe to help runners and more athletic wearers. This easily translates into a work shoe that is great for those standing all day on their feet. As for the design of this shoe, there is a range of options here once again. Here the color options are much more neutral and work-friendly across the board. No shoe is 100% black, because they had to have that big N on the side. Still, many have muted blue and green tones and a lot of grey.
What Features Should be Most Important for Your Feet?
1. Shoe Inserts for Arch Support
If your job requires plenty of standing or walking around, it’s no doubt that your feet are going to bear the full brunt. Without the required help and support for your feet, you might experience some heel pain, knee discomfort and even severe back pain later on in life. This is precisely why more and more people who stand all day are turning to over the counter shoes insoles with arch support.
Also referred to as prefabricated orthotics, over the shelf insoles are non-custom devices made for the purpose of providing gentle support to fallen arches and spread your weight evenly along the foot. While they may not be as effective as a pair of custom made insoles, they work pretty well and cost far less than the custom made orthotics. Today, you can find yourself a pair of great arch supports and over the counter orthotics in almost every pharmacy, chemist or the doctor’s office. If you are on a budget, knowing what to look for can save you plenty of time and money. Adding OTC insoles to your everyday footwear can make things more bearable and relieve pain brought by abusing your arches.
2. Wide Toe Box
If you are going to be on your feet all day, the last thing you want is to cramp your toes in a tiny space the entire time. The problem with conventional shoes that have tapering toe boxes is that they force your toes into an uncomfortable wedge position. This encourages the repetitive, incessant jamming of your toes into the end of the toe box and quickly leads to excessive muscle strain, sore feet, and toes, as well as damaged ligaments and tendons that help support your knees.
Ensuring that your shoe has a wide toe box comes with an exciting array of benefits, especially for people with foot issues. First off, your feet will appreciate the added touch of space and comfort. Sure, you may still feel tired at the end of the day, but at least your feet will be comfortable as you work them all day. Wide toe boxes also substantially improve toe alignment by allowing them to spread naturally. This is because a larger toe box encourages the toes to realign with their corresponding metatarsal bones. If you are looking for a way to make standing all day bearable while still restoring your toes to their correct anatomical shape, then shoes with a wide toe box is the way to go.
3. Shock Absorbing Outsoles for Hard Concrete Floors
Rock hard and unyielding floors such as concrete are among the most uncomfortable surfaces to work on. This is because all the impact and pressure from striking the ground each time moves back up to your feet and joints. If your job necessitates you to stand all day, wearing the entirely wrong pair of shoes can cause adverse foot problems and complications that could have been easily avoided. Proper footwear with outstanding shock absorbing capabilities can work wonders for your overall health and comfort. It doesn’t matter if you like casual footwear or classy dress shoes; you are definitely going to want to invest in a pair with optimal padding and a very flexible, shock absorbing outsole.
The primary purpose of such an outsole is to dissipate the massive amounts of kinetic energy that penetrates your body every time your foot lands on concrete. This helps lock away the energy transfer between your foot and the ground, making it easier to walk or stand on some concrete all day long without any additional strain on your feet. Shock absorbing outsoles also help relieve pain from sensitive pressure points that would have otherwise been aggravated by tough concrete surfaces. You should be very keen when looking for the best shoes for standing all day on concrete. The more padding and cushioning you get, the easier it is to stand without faltering.
4. Compression Socks
Undoubtedly one of the cheapest and most convenient method of providing support to your feet, compression socks are designed to prevent the occurrence of and even guard against further progression of numerous foot issues. These elastic garments are worn around the leg and provide constant compression around the foot. So, how on earth does this compression help people who are on their feet most of the day? By reducing the diameter of the veins, compression socks increase venous blood flow velocity as well as the effectiveness of the valves. This helps improve the circulation to the feet and rejuvenate them faster than uncompressed feet.
If you stand for about 12 hours a day without the use of any support for your feet, then you must be feeling the toll it takes on your entire body. This is a major contributor of leg and foot illnesses such as unattractive varicose veins, spider veins, deep vein thrombosis and even phlebitis. Wearing compression socks every day controls all these issues before they get a chance to wreak havoc on your legs. The great news is that compression socks come in a wide array of sizes that promote both functionality and style. You can choose to go incognito with ankle compression socks or more out there with knee high compression socks.
5. Anti Fatigue Mats for Standing all Day Jobs
Engineered to drastically cut down fatigue caused by standing all day long, anti-fatigue mats are ideal for harder surfaces like concrete. These mats can be made from various materials such as wood, rubber, vinyl and even carpeting material. Anti-fatigue mats are typically used to decrease lower limb disorders for people who stand in a single position most of the day. Prolonged standing can lead to tiredness, discomfort, and soreness in the knees, hips, legs and feet. Even with a great shoe, standing all day can cause tiredness and fatigue.
If you are tired of aching all over after a grueling day at the office, there might just be a solution in the name of anti fatigue mats. These mats not only absorb shock when walking, but they also help people looking for a better standing position that will not wreak havoc on their feet. When looking for a good anti-fatigue mat, remember that softer may not always be better. Look for a mat with some degree of elasticity and a hint of firmness to avoid an overly soft walking surface. The mats have been also known to reduce cases of foot injuries while still increasing productivity around the office. Anti fatigue mats come in a wide array of sizes, styles, and thickness; make sure you choose one that meets your needs as well as your budget.
6. Heel and Arch Support
Heels and arches absorb a lot of foot stress which results in pain, injury, and disfigurement. Heel cup and heel-toe differential supports the heel to reduce spurs and various painful conditions. Proper arch support is also essential. If you’re flat footed, too much of an arch can cause pain mid-shift and lead to body misalignment issues. Proper support aids in correcting foot gait issues by strengthening the weak aspects of the feet. Discover your arch type – either high, normal, or flat – by perusing previous articles on this blog and shop accordingly for the proper shoe support necessary for your foot gait.
7. Non Slip Soles
The best shoes for standing all day should have non slip soles if you work in an environment with wet floors. This is essential. It doesn’t matter if your occupation is a cashier at a gas station or a world renown surgeon. If your job requires you to stand for a long period of time, chances are you’ll also be called to move quickly at one point or another. Occupational hazards such as oil, bodily fluids, ice or water, paint, food, paper, construction items, and change of flooring can lead to disaster with the wrong shoes. Treaded soles for traction and a flexible shock absorbing midsole are among the most important features that shoes for standing in all day should have. .
8. Padding
Most people think of footwear comfort in terms of the amount of padding within the footbed. While that is an important function to consider, it’s not as important as one might believe. Cushioning can help absorb shock and provide a safe and pleasant landing pad for the base of the foot. But of there is too much padding, you can lose control of your footing and end up with other problems caused by workplace falls or spills. Lack of enough padding can cause extra and unnecessary pain and discomfort within moments of lacing up or sliding on your shoes. The best thing to do is consider your work environment, the time you’ll be on your feet, and the condition of your own foot health. Removable inserts allow you to add your own orthotic inserts and devices, so remember that as well when considering proper comfort levels.
9. Fit
All the bells and whistles in the world won’t mean a thing if your shoes hurt your feet. Fit is the most important feature for any type of footwear. Opt for a size too big, and blisters, tendonitis, strains, and sprains can occur. However, opting for a size too small – even if they don’t feel that bad in the store – can lead to a serious range of foot health issues. Deformities such as corns, bunions, hammer toe, and plantar fascia are just some of the painful issues encouraged by improper fitting footwear. And if you’re diabetic, the right fit can mean the difference between life or death. So always go by what feels good over just what looks appealing.
Looking for shoes that give me all day comfortI tend to walk on the outside of my foot and by the time I get off work my feet are killing me.
Hi, You seem to underpronate/supinate as you walk on the outside of your foot. This could be due to your foot having a high arch. You could take a look at some of the shoes here that can be ideal for high arches – findmyfootwear.com/best-running-shoes-for-high-arches/
Looking for a shoe that will provide comfort. I stand all for 8 hours straight with little walking. (Prarmasist) My back and feet hurts at the end of the day. Wonder if there is a shoe that will help? Thanks
You should go for a lightweight shoe well cushioned uppers and insoles. The Dansko mens Wynn Slip-on comes to mind. Or you can check out some of these comfortable sneakers
I just started as a night auditor at hotel and I’m running all night long and standing doing Landry and making breakfast. I get home and it take so much effort to walk because my feet ache. What kind of shoe do you recommend?
Hi, here are some comfortable standing and walking all day work shoes that you can take a look at.
Timberland Pro Renova Professional
Klogs USA Womens Naples Clog
Asics Gel Foundation Workplace Shoe
Dansko Elise Sneaker
Where would one find the Klogs brand of shoe? I read what was on this page and looked for a link but there was none.
Hi Terry, You can see the Klogs as well as more comfort shoes for women at this link –

My accillies (spelling?) is what is bothering me tremendously. Which one of the above shoes is recommended? I stand and walk all day as an assistant store manager I rarely get to sit down. I’m 5’1 and about 138 pounds.
Hi, a backless shoe or a shoe with an adjustable backstrap would be ideal to not irritate the Achilles tendon together with good arch support and a slightly raised heel. Can recommend the following shoes that could prove to be helpful in your situation.
Klogs USA Womens Carolina Clog
Dansko Womens Allison Mule
Wolky Womens Jewel Sandal
Oofos Unisex Oofos Clogs
I work front desk at a hotel. I stand for 40hrs a week with occasional walking. I purchased a pair of Clarks but still when I get home my feet burn so bad it makes me cry. I know that I am flat footed as well. What would you suggest for a ladies shoe?
Hi, together with good cushioning you will need shoes with sufficient arch support for your flat feet. Here are some recommendations for some work shoes that are supportive yet not too boring.
Algeria Kory Lace Up
Dansko Larissa Dressy Sandals
Vionic Sonoma Low Wedge Pump
Thank you!
Hello, I am a pharmacy technician and I’m on my feet all day while at work. I had gotten the Dansko clogs but decided to return them because the were too hard on my arches. The shoes I purchased after have worked well but after a little more than 6 months, I will need to purchase new shoes. The problem I have, adding to aching, tired feet, is that my ankles don’t have much support, which leads to having very swollen ankles and making it hard to walk. From the list you have here, which ones would you recommend that also provide ankle support?
Hi, sneakers would be the best choice if you are looking for arch support and heel support.
Shoes from New Balance , ASICS would be a good choice. Your best option would be to go for ankle supports (IE: Bracoo ankle support, Slimline ankle support) which you could wear with any shoe. Another idea would be to buy shoes with removable insoles so you can use customized insoles or superfeet insoles for the perfect arch support.
Would any style of sneakers from asics or new balance work? Or is there a particular style from these brands?
I like all the suggestions you’ve made for other people, and I too seem to walk on the outside of the foot. I also need a WW shoe which seems to unusual . Can you list brands that carry WW, and have support for walking, standing?
Hi, quite a few brands do carry the wide width options. For standing and walking long periods at a time, Clarks, Propet, New Balance would be some good options to look into. I will try to get some specific styles in one of my blog posts in the near future.
Hello, I work at Amazon and I stand on my feet for 10 hours a day. My feet feel so pain at the end and hurt to the point I cannot no longer walk. I need the best shoe where it is comfortable, hold my weight and keep less pressure on my feel for standing all 10 hours. I am 5’5 weight 251lbs. please help
Hi, running/walking sneakers would be a better option considering your situation. As long as you don’t have a dress/footwear code at work, I can recommend the following shoes which have good cushioning and suitable for heavy people. The Saucony Intgrity ST2 Walking shoe has good arch support and the New Balance 1260v4 would be ideal for a moderate pronator.
I will be working at Amazon also! ? I start on October 1st and need some great shoes for standing 10hrs+ . I had some nike air max when I was recently working at a factory but my feet were aching SO BAD. my foot is super arched. They look like boomerang! Will the new balance shoes be more suited for me too?
Wait. I just looked up the new balance shoes you recommend. They cost 150!? any other suggestions?
Hi Sara, Some of the best cushioned shoes are $100 upwards. You can find the Skechers GoRun Ultra 2 for about $80.It also has good cushioning and shock absorption properties. The ability to absorb shock is particularly important in a shoe if you need to stand and walk on hard floors for long periods of time.
Hi
I am going to start a new job as a nurse in the operating room which includes standing for 10 hrs a day with occasional walking and lifting. I currently wear greys anatomy clogs and find my feet hurt and tingle when I walk after a few long shifts. Any ideas on more comfortable shoes?
Thanks for your time!
Hi, you could try some nice cushioned insoles for your Greys Anatomy clogs and see if there is a change. Sometimes just using the proper insoles can really make a big difference. I will also give you some comfortable shoe options suitable for a nurse.

Hello, my mom works at a restaurant and she is always standing and on the move. She is a cook so it is important for me to find shoes for her that will help her in being comfortable, but also that have a good grip so that she won’t slip. She works long hour shifts usually 6 days a week. Do you have any recommendations for her?
Thanks
Hi, comfort and slip resistance are important features for a shoe that needs to worn in a restaurant kitchen environment. Here are some choices that would be suitable. Good luck.
Skechers for Work Women’s Sure Track Trickel Slip Resistant Work Shoe
AVIA Women’s Union Strap Service Shoe
Timberland PRO Women’s Renova Slip-On Shoe
Hi! Hoping you can help. I work in the airline industry and am on my feet 10-12 hours a day. I have high arches and suffer from plantar fasciitis and I’m miserable in my Danskos as well as the Crocs Medical. Can you recommend a good show? TIA!
Hi, sneakers would be the ideal shoes for someone with Plantar Fasciitis, but recommending a dress shoe for someone with Plantar Fasciitis is a tough one. I would rather advise you to get insoles suitable for Plantar Fasciitis that can help relieve the pain and provide comfort for your feet. If possible, you could try these in the shoe you are currently using. If you notice some relief, then you can use these insoles in a more comfortable shoe like the ones listed on this website. Good luck!
Hi there, I work in film 12-14 hours running and standing all day/night. I’m 5’7 150lbs what would you recommend ? Thanks in advance

Hi. I work three days on the weekends 12 hr shifts in a warehouse with cement floors. First full day on friday about an hour in a half before clock out time i started to feel like a cramp or maybe a pulled muscle in the bottom of my left foot in the midsole and my lower legs towards my calves are sore and i called myself soaking them in warm water and salt and took an Ib, woke up next morning and my foot pain and legs still are still sore like a feeling that you’ve worked out to hard and the next day you feel it…I was thinking about getting some customized Dr. Shouls. Its been 3 days now and theres still lower leg soreness and that left bottom foot pain. i’m around 5’1″ and 150 lbs….please give me your best advice
Hi, the pain in your foot can be caused by other reasons than just uncomfortable footwear. It is best you seek some medical advise, cause I don’t feel I am qualified to advise you on this issue. Good luck!
Hi

Birkenstock Professional Linz Work Shoe
Mozo Womens Forza Work Shoe
Hope that helps.
I stand on my feet for 8-10 hours a day and often feel a burning numbing pain in my third toe and in the ball of my right foot. Any suggestions?
Hello I am a pharmacist and stand on my feet sometimes 12 hours per day. I have been wearing rockport dressports for years but my feet feel like they are on fire . is there a better standing shoe out there. I also see recommendations of insoles or orthotic inserts. Do u think that the Dr.Scholls custom inserts are good.
Hi, there are many options. The insoles from Dr.Scholls and superfeet are both good. But it all depends whether these will match how your feet would adjust to them. Custom orthotics would be better. Make sure the shoes you buy, have removable insoles so you can fit the other insoles /custom orthotics that you want to use. You can look at some all day standing shoes I have listed in the posts below. Please click on the links.

I am going to be standing on my feet for about 8 hours give or take but i will also be doing alot of walking where i work as well. The shoes that i need are something that are not going to kill my feel or knees or back.
I stand and walk for 8 plus hours and I tend to stand and walk on my heels bad. I have weak ankles and my heels hurt when I get home and wake up in the mornings for a while. I’m a medical lab tech so I wear scrubs so I can wear tennis shoes.
Hi,
I’m a hostess at a restaurant and stand 10-12 hours a day. By the end of my day, my shins and feet are killing me. They even hurt for the first few steps after I wake up in the morning. I wear Danksos now but hate them. They are heavy and hard. I have high arches and need something a little dressy. Any recommendations?
I work 8 to 12hrs a day.Im diabetic.I stand all day.My feet burn so bad.What shoes do you recommend
I am a teacher. I work on concrete floors. I have flat feet. I stand over 8 hrs. At the end of the day my feet, legs, and back hurt. I am looking for a comfortable shoe that will provide my support all day. What do you recommend?
I’m interested in knowing too because I’m a cashier and have flat feet as well. Shoes are so hard to find and incredibly expensive. Cashiers make just above minimum wage so I’m hoping a budget friendly shoe is suggested!
Hi, flat feet require shoes that have arch support. Shoes will have varying degrees of arch support. Another option would be to get insoles with arch support that will fit in your shoes. You can find some suitable options by visiting the page links below.

I will be starting my first factory job in about a week. Which involves standing in one spot for 10-12 hrs a day. What kind of shoes would be best for me?
I am a mobile dog groomer and am on my feet for MANY hours during the day. I tend to wear out the inside portions of any of my shoes and am looking for a very comfortable shoe. I don’t know if this makes a difference, though I am 5’3″, 140 lbs. and have wide feet. Can you kindly suggest the best shoe or some options? Thanks so much in advance!!!
Hi, if you tend to wear out the inside of your shoes, then you most probably are an overpronator. I suggest that you read up on the foot overpronation before you make a buying decision. You will find some suitable walking shoe options for overpronators at the link below.
findmyfootwear.com/walking-shoes-for-overpronation/
I m working in retail. I have pain in the heel since last few months specially when I m standing still, possibly due to pronation, feet slightly flat. Doctor recommend me to buy a new shoes which can keep my heels intact, which shoe could u recommend, As I have to put the custom made orthotics inside the shoes? Thanks
Hello, I work on my feet for 8 hours a day. I have the hardest time finding a good shoe that will help my feet. My problems are: heel pain, pain in the padding under my toes, and the bone on the inside of my foot right below my big toe (always hurts). I have also noticed my hips hurting from time to time and I constantly am shifting from foot to foot to relieve the pain. What do you suggest? Thank you so much.
Hi Crystal,
I would suggest some top of the line super cushy sneakers like the ASICS Kyano 21 or the the New Balance 1080V5 that provide plenty of cushion. These might alleviate the fatigue your feet undergo, caused by standing at work for long periods at a time. But it is better to get a professional opinion from a podiatrist as the pain in the inside of your foot and the hip pain you experience, switching to cushy shoes might just not be the answer.
Thank you! I’ll look at those shoes and contact a podiatrist.
I have to stand all day, but this is outside and very cold in winter, so I am looking for more of a boot so that I can wear extra socks, but still look smart in a skirt. Any suggestions that might help? Very many thanks.
Hi, I have a small list of tall work boots. How they will adapt to the cold weather I am not sure. But these are good comfortable boots that you can wear for longer periods at work. You can see them here –

Perfect! Thank you so much.
Hello
I am starting a job as a soft count clerk for black jack tables at a casino. Additionally my right ankle is fused so I have to use arch support inserts. what shoes/s would you recommend and would I need additional arch support with your suggestions?
Thank you fro your time!
Hi I stand all day with lot of walking. My lower back and my feet are killing me when I get off. My feet tend to hurt on the outside/middle/and heel area. Is there a shoe for me?
Hi, I am a lady working in banking and I am on my feet for 9 hours a day. I need a smart preferably a small heel shoes. I find at the present time I get sore soles that the skin is getting firmer and very hot by the end of the day as well as aching feet. Thank you
Hello,
I am a Counter Manager for Clinique at a department store and I work long shifts 5 days a week, and they are getting ready to be even longer days with the holidays quickly approaching. My legs ache at the end of the day, and I’m looking for a good shoe and tall boot to fit my needs.
Thanks,
Katie
I have just started the standing desk at work as an accountant. 9 hours a day with little movement unless I go for a walk. Love the posture and core benfits but feet (heels in particular) are hurting lots with a pair of dress boots and anti fatigue mat.
I think no matter how good the mat, if you’re wearing a hard chunky heel you’re still standing on a hard chunky heel.Gel inserts haven’t helped and I’ve never had foot pain before.
I’m happy to go for a dress shoe but would prefer a brown boot.
Recommendations?
Hi. I am curious what are some recommended shoes for standing and walking for 8-12 hours at a nursing facility. Everytime I get off from work my feet hurts and occasionally sometimes its my toes only. I appreciate for your response back. Thanks.
Hi Rosa, whether you are a nurse or another professional who has to stand all day at a hospital or medical facility, please have a look at these top nursing shoe choices –

The problem I have is shoes that just do not last. I prefer to wear (flat) boots for work with all the rain we’re getting at the moment especially with me being on playground duty twice a week. I buy boots and the bottom come apart from the boot within a month. Doesn’t matter whether I pay £10 or £50 none of them last. The ones that DO last are now very tatty and have holes in the bottom leaving me with wet socks so I can’t wear them. I can’t afford to keep buying boots all the time. Any recommendations to boots that stand the test of a teacher’s day?
Hi Kay Ho, you can check out the the tall boot styles where some also have the waterproof feature, and all are comfortable enough to stand in all day – findmyfootwear.com/comfortable-tall-boots-for-work/
I walk and stand on concrete all day. I believe I am flat footed and at the end of the day my feet hurt. What kind of shoe would you suggest?
Thanks
Nancy Ray
I’m going to be in a factory and will work 10 hours standing in place. What are your suggestions?
Hi, lots of good suggestions here, but I have one additional problem that I have not seen mentioned. Sensitive top of feet. I cannot have seams on the shoe at the toes or the base of the toes. I stand all day at the window at the post office. I have arthritis in knees and back. I am 5’5″ and about 230 lbs. I wear a 9.5 wide shoe. I need good support and preferably a high and seamless box on the shoe. Do you have any recommendations. I seem to go through shoes in about 4 to 6 months, so would love a reasonable price
I am a hairstylist and I stand about 8 hours a day 5 days a week. I recently developed planter fasciitis in my foot. I got custom orthotics from the foot doctor and they haven’t seen to help almost made it worse.
I have very little cushion on my bottom of my feet (it hurts to walk barefoot) One doctor said I have a low arch another doctor two years later told me I have a high flexible arch.
I’ve tried the clog style danskos, ascis, sketchers non-slip sole and söft premiere brands.
Any advice will be helpful!
Hi Erica, everybody’s foot is different and I cannot tell for certain which shoe would solve your foot issues. You can have a look at the shoes listed by clicking the 2 links below.

Go to a shoe store which has some of these shoes. Try them on and see how they feel. Pick one that you think would be the best fit for your feet. Good luck!
I’m a Facilities Supervisor who’s on his feet all day; sometimes standing, mostly walking, also sometimes carying tables/chairs. I wore red wings due to my construction background but couldn’t stand the price ($200 for the boots/ $100 every year for a resole). I switched to Palladium boots 3.5 months ago and feel great (red wings=2lb per boot vs. palladium=1lb per boot).
But I’m wondering if there’s a shoe/boot out there that will fit my job style even better…..any thoughts?

Hi I need to stand 10+hours a day for my work, and also need to walk in and out depending on the day. I’ve been worked like this for 8 years and couldn’t find a comfort shoes for me. Now my both feet lower legs always feel sore everyday. I am 156cm high and 60kg with very flat feet. What shoes do you suggest?
Hi Jing, if you have flat feet then you should be looking for shoes which have arch support. And standing for 10+ hours a day, the shoes should have good cushioning. I have written a post about some comfortable sneakers with arch support that you might find useful – findmyfootwear.com/best-walking-shoes-with-support-for-flat-feet/
Hi there, just got a new job that means i am standing most of the day, with some walking.
I have diabetes (type 2 if that makes a difference) and have very flat feet, really struggle to wear slip-ons because i need a lot of support in the ankle – suggestions?
I have completely flat feet and just started a job walking around for 12 hours with only 15 minute breaks every few hours. What shoes do you recommend for me?
I work for UPS and I’m loading a trailer all day in a factory. Walking on concrete pulling a pallet jack. I walk about 7 miles a day at this. I have to have a polishable shoe. What do you recommend?
I’m overweight, out of shape, and I’m about a 60 hour a week waitress in a high volume two story restaurant. Any suggestions? Besides a new job?
I have a foot that has had all 5 metatarsals broken, and has metal. It swells, it hurts and I’m going to be standing all day everyday soon. I also have nerve damage and plantar and my toes are kinda frozen and painful now. Any recommendations?
I work as a part-time Floor Associate at a warehouse store. This means I am on my feet either standing or walking on a concrete for my entire shift (walk several miles every shift). I purchased new shoes when I first started but wearing them every time I work has taken its toll on them…think I need more than one pair of work shoes. I use Good Feet inserts so I have to have a shoe that will accommodate them. What would you recommend. I have a limited budget!
Hay I’m a hospital worker. I’m on my feet a lot. Apparently I over pronate when I walk/run. But I don’t run at work. I can wear pretty much any footware so what would your recommendation be. I have a wider foot and breathability I would like but not too breathable as sometimes blood will get on top of shoes. Thanks!
Hi, I work 8+ hours in retail (stocker) I’m always moving, up and down step stools thru out my shift. I have heel spur on my right heel that can be really painful at times. I NEED something that will provide comfort for me. Please help me…
If your heel spur is at the bottom of the heel then you can go for some well cushioned shoes with arch support. You can have a look at some of the findmyfootwear.com/walking-shoes-for-plantar-fasciitis , we have selected here. If your heel spur is at the back of the heel, then a backless clog type of shoe would be ideal. Try to have a look at some of the Plantar Fasciitis insoles which can be accommodated in your shoes. These too can provide comfort.
Hi I work at a dog kennel and have aigle boots for the worst weather which are great but I could do with something a little lighter and less warm for summer. They need to be waterproof and maybe ankle length. My feet are sore at the end of a day and my legs ache from wearing the aigles all day.
Hi, if you are looking for ankle high boots which are waterproof, easily washable and provide comfort for your feet while you work, take a look at these Muck Boots
Need a waterproof black leather walking shoe to wear while working for post office on a walking route. Ankle support is preferred since I tend to turn my ankles over easily. Arch support is needed since I have high arches. What do you suggest?
