While both the Brooks Addiction GTS 15 and Glycerin GTS 22 cater to runners requiring support for overpronation, they sit at very different places within the brand’s range of models.
Here I try both shoes to find out which is best and for whom.

The Addiction GTS 15 is aimed squarely at those requiring the very highest level of control and support. The Addiction is very much a ‘motion control’ model, a term that was used for the most supportive shoes on the market (which seems to be used less and less nowadays).

The Glycerin GTS 22 offers a combination of plush cushioning and control designed for runners who want premium comfort without sacrificing stability. It builds upon the brand’s long-standing Glycerin line, incorporating the GuideRails support system to make it suitable for those who mildly overpronate.

While the Addiction GTS 15 uses the brand’s BioMoGo midsole, an older midsole foam cushioning technology based on CM-EVA midsole, the Glycerin GTS 22 uses the latest DNA Tuned midsole, Brooks’ most advanced cushioning to date. This nitrogen-infused foam offers a plush underfoot feel without becoming mushy.
It provides a soft, luxurious ride while maintaining responsiveness and durability. This DNA Tuned is softer in the heel for maximum cushioning and more responsive in the forefoot for a great toe-off.

I found the difference between the cushioning of the two shoes instantly noticeable. I do prefer softer cushioning in shoes, and the Glycerin clearly wins here.
While I don’t find the Addiction uncomfortable, the cushioning is certainly on the firmer side. That said, it’s aimed at a bigger, heavier runner who perhaps requires a much more durable shoe.

Both models use the GuideRails Support System, GTS (Go-To-Support) models from Brooks use the GuideRails system to gently guide the foot into alignment and reduce excess movement, particularly for those who overpronate. It’s unobtrusive but effective, offering support only when needed.
These ‘rails’ are an extension of the shoe’s cushioning material, which extends up the side of both the lateral and medial edges of the rearfoot. By creating a cupped shape to the cushioning, the foot sits centrally, within the shoe and is held in place should it excessively pronate.
I’ve been a big fan of the GuideRail system since its introduction, particularly due to the versatility it offers.

Fit
Both the Addiction GTS 15 and the Glycerin GTS 22 fit true to size with a standard width that should accommodate most runners. The engineered mesh upper provides a forgiving fit that adapts well to foot shape, while still feeling secure through the midfoot and heel.

The Glycerin GTS 22 is a good option for those who appreciate a slightly roomier forefoot, and it can comfortably accommodate a thinner orthotic easily. Wider width options are also available, as is typical with Brooks.
The Addiction GTS 15 has a straighter last construction and can easily accommodate most orthotics, but do check before purchasing to be sure.
Both shoes fit my slim-to-normal width and volume feet very well, and I found them both instantly comfortable. The Glycerin has a more premium feel, which I really like, but I found the Addiction perfectly acceptable.
Performance
In contrast to more traditional stability shoes like the Addiction GTS, the Glycerin GTS offers an up-to-date, luxurious ride. This shoe doesn’t scream support shoe; instead, it blends its structure seamlessly into a plush, soft, and premium-feeling experience.

The DNA Tuned midsole is the highlight here. I enjoyed the soft step-in feel, but it remains resilient enough for my daily training. For runners who may find firmer stability shoes too harsh or unforgiving, the Glycerin GTS 22 offers a more cushioned, accommodating ride.
While not designed for speed work or race-day efforts, it has a decent level of responsiveness for a max-cushion support shoe, and it works well for long runs, recovery days, or runners who simply prefer a soft ride.

The Addiction GTS 15 is aimed squarely at those requiring the highest level of control, and it excels in this area. The broad midsole base, the GuideRails and the straighter last of the midsole contribute to keeping my foot in a neutral position throughout my gait cycle.
I found the ride is incredibly stable, and while the cushioning is on the firmer side, especially when compared to the Glycerin GTS 22, it’s very runnable and, for the heavier runner, will provide a good, durable base.

I didn’t find the Addiction GTS 15 isn’t the most responsive model, so don’t expect to break any records in it, but for control, it’s one of the best around.
My Verdict
The Brooks Glycerin GTS 22 is an excellent choice for runners looking for a plush, supportive ride that doesn't compromise on comfort or modern feel. It’s best suited to mild to moderate overpronators who value cushioning and want a versatile daily trainer that feels luxurious on foot.

Compared to more traditional motion control shoes such as the Addiction, it offers a far softer, more flexible and more responsive ride, perfect for those seeking stability without sacrificing underfoot comfort. The Glycerin GTS 22 is certainly my preference, but I do require less support than that offered by the Addiction GTS 15.
The Brooks Addiction GTS 15 excels as more of a niche running shoe, prioritising stability and durability. It provides exactly the qualities crucial for severe overpronators.

Whilst it may be a heavier shoe than the Glycerin GTS 22, the added weight is due to its better ability to provide a durable base of cushioning and control.
While it comes in at a higher price point than the Addiction GTS, the Glycerin GTS 22 delivers in quality, cushioning, and overall feel. I find it a great choice for those who want the best of both worlds: structure and softness.
If support and control are your number one priority, then the Brooks Addiction GTS 15 makes a great shoe that you can feel confident and comfortable in.
The Addiction is also a great value model. I’m pleased that Brooks has kept the price very reasonable. It’s not packed with technology, but it does a great job and is very well made and very durable, offering excellent value.
In short, for maximum control, go for the Addiction and for maximum comfort, choose the Glycerin.
